From Booster President Sherry Leon. Please pay attention to the fact that the booster meeting date has changed.
Parents,
I hope this email finds you all well and ready for spring!!
Just a few updates in the wrestling world:
Congratulations to all of the wrestlers that attended the regional tournament to qualify for the Pennsylvania Junior Olympics. Seneca Valley had a great showing of 28 wrestlers. The following four wrestlers placed in their respective age and weight classes: Anthony Latess (2nd), Tony Palumbo (1st), Austin Leon (1st), Lewis Newell (2nd). Tony Palumbo placed 5th and Lewis Newell placed 6th this past weekend at the state tournament.
The April booster meeting originally scheduled for the 4th has been rescheduled for April 13th (Wednesday) at 7pm. The meeting will be held at the Rowan Elementary Library. The meeting was changed to accommodate a larger crowd and finish off with updates of the Varsity banquet. Our Athletic Director will also be attending this meeting.
During the April meeting we will also have our yearly booster executive board election. In order to have a vote, you must have attended two consecutive booster meetings. If you have a question as to your eligibility, please contact me.
Currently the following individuals have been nominated for positions:
President - Sherry Leon
Vice President - Larry Chappell and Marcy Latess
Treasurer - Nick Zoria
Secretary - Joe Latess and Robert Amelio
Trustee (Elementary) - Rob Aleva
Trustee (Jr. High/Varsity) - Joe Latess
We will take nominations up to the start of the meeting. At that time, the nominees will either accept or decline their nomination and we will proceed with the vote. Since we currently have contested positions, the voting will be conducted by secret ballot. The nominees for the contested positions must be prepared to give a short speech indicating why they are qualified for the particular position they have been nominated for. No write in candidates are permitted. In the event of a tie, a re vote will be taken.
If you have been nominated for a position, please realize that this is a year long commitment. Although the official wrestling season runs from mid-November until mid-March, we do meet on a monthly basis or more if necessary. We also plan to continue to develop plans to host events in the off season that will help the organization fundraise for the future.
With the development of the wrestlers beginning in the elementary program, we look for Seneca Valley to once again make our presence known in the wrestling community.
Lastly, your support would be appreciated at the upcoming school board meeting on April 11th at the IHS. There is a budget crisis in our district and there has been discussion on eliminating activities and athletics. Please come out and show your support for the children of Seneca Valley. We know how important activities and athletics are to our children and the opportunities they can provide.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sherry Leon
